On August 10-11, the U15 Beach Volleyball national championships organised by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) were held at Khachik Asmaryan Beach Volleyball Academy. This championship was the seventh age group competition organised by the VFA in 2024 alone.
“The increase in the number of such competitions and the participation of many teams will soon also affect the quality and preparation of our national teams. We are hopeful that very soon our players will be successful in international championships, because the Beach Volleyball Academy allows us to raise their level. The academy provides free of charge opportunities to develop to collegiate teams and makes sure that young players from across Armenia can train on free courts. This is a great boost for the further development of Beach Volleyball in Armenia,” said Karen Asmaryan, VFA Secretary General.
As many as 17 and 10 teams participated in the championship for girls and boys, respectively. Participating teams fought initially in subgroups, followed by playoffs and semi-final stages.
Among the girls, the Academy Team (Amalia Karapetyan/Elizaveta Tonoyan) became the champions, with the teams representing KHMOMM and Garni completing the podium. Team FIMA (Alex Hunanyan/Narek Gevorgyan) emerged victorious from the boys’ tournament, with Team Abovyan and Team Avan securing second and third place, respectively.
The top three teams in each gender were awarded with diplomas, medals, and cups. In three days, the mixed championship will be held for the first time at the premises of the Khachik Asmaryan Beach Volleyball Academy as well, with participation of players under the age of 22.
