Half Season Completed in Türkiye and Italy, Rzeszow Beat Lodz in Five Sets

With the anticipated clashes held in Türkiye and Italy this weekend, half of the season was completed in the most elite leagues in the continent, as well as Rzeszow side became victorious over Lodz in the big match of the week, which affected the standings in Poland.

Two CEV Champions League Volley participants of Poland, PGE Rysice Rzeszow and LKS Commercecon Lodz faced off in the twelfth week of the Tauron Liga. Prior to this match, both teams had only two defeats. Therefore, the result was significant in taking advantage of the leaderboard.

Being aware of that, both teams put a great effort to the court, and the score was tied at 2-2 after four sets. Rzeszow stayed calm, and with a superior game in the thrilling five-set, they overpowered their strong opponent by 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 27-29, 25-21, 15-13).

Thanks to this victory, the Rzeszow side maintained their vice leader position and increased the gap between Lodz one more point. By collecting a total of 27 points with nine wins, the Lodz side stayed in third place in the charts. Grupa Azoty Chemik Police, on the other hand, continued their top-notch performance and closed the week in the lead.

Czech opposite Gabriela Orvosova was honored as the MVP of the clash since she became the top scorer with 29 points. Magdalena Jurczyk and Ann Kalandadze also helped their team with impressive performances, 17 points apiece. Italian opposite Valentina Diouf’s 26 points were not enough for victory in Lodz.

Top teams took the court to complete the half-season in Italy: All three #CLVolleyW squads passed their games with a clear straight-set victory and continued to secure the top three position. Imoco Volley Conegliano stayed unbeaten with thirteen victories, while Vero Volley Milano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci continued the chase.

Similarly, the Turkish superpower VakifBank Istanbul also put an end to the first half of the Turkish Sultanlar League. They met Kuzeyboru, and with a superior game except the fourth set, Giovanni Guidetii’s team became victorious by a score of 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19). Three players scored in double digits, but American outside hitter Alexandra Frantti played an exceptional game, scoring 22 points, including three blocks and one ace.

Both Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul, Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, and VakifBank Istanbul finished the first half with only one failure; Fenerbahce completed the first half in the top position with 37 points, with the others followed with 34 points each.
