It was another action-packed weekend for #CLVolleyM squads across Europe, with key battles shaping the standings in Italy, Poland, and Germany. In Italy, Perugia reinforced their position at the top, while Warta-Zawiercie suffered a setback in Poland. Meanwhile, Lüneburg survived a tough test in Germany to hold onto second place.

In a showdown between two #CLVolleyM representatives, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia proved too powerful for Allianz Milano, securing a 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19) victory in the 20th round of Italy’s SuperLega. Except for a brief slip in the second set, Perugia controlled the match with superior firepower and efficiency, extending their lead at the top of the standings with 51 points. Milano remained in sixth place despite the loss.

Tunisian international Wassim Ben Tara led Perugia’s offense with 21 points, including three blocks and one ace, while Ukrainian outside hitter Oleh Plotnytskyi shined with 19 points, delivering an outstanding serving performance with six aces. On the losing side, Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers was a standout for Milano, putting up an impressive 25 points, but it wasn’t enough to trouble the league leaders.

In the 25th week of Poland’s PlusLiga, Jastrzebski Węgiel and PGE Projekt Warszawa cruised to straight-set victories, but Aluron CMC Warta-Zawiercie endured a tough night against PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów, suffering a 1-3 (22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 19-25) defeat. Warta-Zawiercie struggled to find consistency, and despite leveling the match in the second set, they couldn’t maintain their momentum against a determined Belchatow side.

Serbian outside hitter Pavle Perić delivered an MVP-worthy performance for Belchatow, leading his team with 20 points, while Polish opposite Karol Butryn contributed 15 for Warta-Zawiercie. The loss did not cost Warta-Zawiercie their second-place position in the standings, but it significantly tightened the race, with Warszawa now trailing by just one point.

Over in Germany’s 21st leg of the Bundesliga, SVG Lüneburg had to dig deep to claim a hard-fought (3-2: 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 13-25, 15-12) victory over Helios Grizzlys Giesen. The vice-leaders faced a tough challenge but managed to edge out their opponents in the tie-break, ensuring they held onto their second-place position in the Bundesliga standings.

With Perugia extending their dominance in Italy with a huge win over Milano, Warta-Zawiercie facing increased pressure in Poland, and Lüneburg battling through in Germany, the weekend brought plenty of drama for the powerhouses of the continent. As the domestic seasons approach their final stretch, every match becomes even more crucial for #CLVolleyM teams aiming for both league and European success.
