This weekend, the CEV Champions League Volley quarterfinalist Vero Volley Monza suffered a surprising defeat in Italy; at the same time, Legionowo secured the last ticket for the Polish Cup semifinals after an epic five-set-thriller.
Vero Volley Monza visited VBC Trasporti Pesanti Casalmaggiore in the 21st round of the Italian Serie A1. The host team started the match quite well, and although the first two sets were quite contentious, they found a 2-0 lead. However, Monza showed a remarkable performance in the following two sets and extended the match to the tie-break.
With the help of their more than a thousand spectators, Casalmaggiore won the match with good teamwork and an elite game in the fifth set (3-2: 27-25, 26-24, 18-25, 22-25, 15-12).
