The first trophy will find its owner in Germany this weekend with the final clash of the national Super Cup. Last year’s champion SC Potsdam will not be able to defend their title since this year we will watch the national league champion Allianz MTV Stuttgart against the domestic cup gold medalist SSC Palmberg Schwerin.
The CEV Champions League Volley participant Stuttgart side of course wants to take the trophy this time after losing the last edition in four sets. The pre-favorite of the country actually did not start the league very powerfully since they lost one point to VC Wiesbaden in the first round. The clear victory against Munster in the second week placed them in third place in the overall standings. This weekend, the aim is so precise for them: Take the first title of the season and show everyone their strength.
On the other hand, things will not be easy for Konstantin Bitter’s squad since their opponent has the same goal as them: The CEV Cup 2024 club will also want to make an excellent start to the season by winning the title. They succeeded in this before; they won each of the four trophies between 2017 and 2020 in this competition. Therefore, they need to do what they did in previous years.
The Schwerin side also started the season very well: With a clear victory versus Aachen and Neuwied, respectively, they got a 2-0 perfect record in the first two weeks. They are now in second place in the charts, but the way they played was appreciated a lot by their fans.
Stuttgart and Schwerin will take the court for the Super Cup tomorrow, October 15, at 18:00. We will all find out who will take the first domestic title in Germany this season. A good start to the season is always important in the sense of taking mental advantage as well; therefore, one thing is for sure: We will see a massive fight on Sunday evening.
