VakifBank aiming high for new season

VakifBank Sports Club recently opened their 2025/2026 season with an event attended by Club President Abdi Serdar Üstünsalih, Members of the Board of Directors, General Manager Banu Can Schürmann, Head Coach Giovanni Guidetti, players and staff. 

The reigning champions of the Sultans League, VakifBank, enjoyed their season opener at the VakifBank Spor Sarayı. Speaking there, Club President Abdi Serdar Üstünsalih said: “We are opening the season with our renewed and reinforced team. We have one of the best squads in the world in terms of coach and players. Once again, a season full of competition and high-level excitement is beginning. Many of our athletes played successfully in their national teams during the summer. I congratulate all our coaches and players, starting with those who played for Türkiye, which became the second-best team in the world.”  

Üstünsalih: “We are contenders for all trophies”

Üstünsalih continued: “In our 17-player roster, we have seven players who have come from our club’s youth academy. No other team competing with us for a top place in the league or in Europe has such a ratio. We are proud of this. This season we are contenders for the trophy of the four events we will compete in. We have the quality to achieve this. For the first trophy of the season, the Super Cup, we will face Fenerbahçe on October 8 in Ankara. As always, it will be an exciting match. We trust our team, and we are sure that we will win the cup. We wish success to our opponent as well and to all the teams that will compete this season.”
