Miriam Sylla“Our greatest strength is that we are never fully satisfied and we always want to achieve more. Therefore, I do not think that motivation will be a problem at all. I am convinced that we still have room to improve, and we will strive to do even better and grow even more, knowing that the opponents will be even more aggressive!”
Sylla, who is currently attending a training camp with Team Italy in Caorle, is one of the key pillars of a star-studded team that is yet to lose a match since December of 2019. Miriam has now the Tokyo Olympics in sight where she will try to help Italy claim their first Olympic medal in history to go with the silver and bronze medals she won at the 2018 World Championship and EuroVolley 2019.
“I remember all the victories very well. I would not know how to choose my favourite one, because they were all beautiful pages in our history and will always remain in my mind,” she adds. “Our strength is also in the chemistry we have, not only within the team, but also with the management and staff. This makes Imoco an ideal environment for a top player to perform.”
Sylla, like all other Panthers, is the reigning Italian, European and World champion at club level. “It is difficult to find the right words to describe such a feeling. Maybe I will find them if we repeat the same feat again. On top of this, my legs are shaking at the thought of playing before our fans again and I am sure that the first time it will happen will be a unique emotion, and my heart will beat fast. I cannot wait for that!”
