The Next Big Thing in Volleyball: The Davyskiba Family: Vlad
Feature
Not many are the cases when you will meet a young and successful Volleyball family, but as we already acknowledged it - this is the case of the Anna and Uladzislau (Vlad) Davyskiba, the Belarusian stars of Vero Volley Monza. Last week, we brought your attention to the story of Anna, and this week we get to meet her husband, Vlad.

Born in 2001, the outisde spiker has already proven he is a player to be watched for. Joining Vero Volley in 2020, Vlad has been shining on the court so far this season - he has played 14 matches in the Italian Superlega so far, scoring as many as 180 points (50.4 % perfection in attack), helping his team to keep a good position in the current standings (6th place).
While not busy competing in Italy or at the CEV Cup, Vlad is leading his Belarus in different competitions, where together with his teammates, he is looking forward to achieving new goals.
A father and a prospect of a raising Volleyball star, Vlad Davyskiba might very well be The Next Big Thing in Volleyball.
The Beginning
Vlad starts with Volleyball as many kids - he was discovered during physical education lessons.
Vlad Davyskiba“We used to play Volleyball in school, and my teacher said that I was good at it, so he decided that I could do more and train professionally, so it started this way.”
Davyskiba has fond memories of his beginning on the court. There is a special place in his heart for the first time when he was awarded MVP.
“I think it was my first final of a junior competition, we won at 3-1. Emotions ran high, I was extremely excited, I got my first MVP. I will not forget this moment.”
Going Pro
For the 196 cm tall Belarusian, there is a specific moment of his development as a Volleyball player, when he decided that this sport can be his career path.
“I was invited to be part of the young players, preparing in the Olympic reserve school in Minsk, and it all fell into place”.

The Italian experience
Together with his wife Anna, Vlad makes an important step towards a better Volleyball future in 2020, when they both sign with Vero Volley. For the outside spiker, it was the right choice to do.
Vlad Davyskiba“I chose Monza because I prefer Italian volleyball rather than Russian. Here, I can learn a lot technically and tactically, and then physically. I adapted quite quickly with the help of my teammates - I think that I got the best team, and I am glad to be a part of this squad.”
The CEV Cup
Playing in the #CEVCupM is a nice challenge for Vlad and his Vero Volley, but until now, they are on the right track in the competition, having won both their 16th final matches against the Croatian Mladost Zagreb, where Vlad finished with 12 points (3 kill blocks) in the first encounter. In the next phase, the Italians will have to face the Turkish SK Ankara.
“Playing in the CEV Cup tournament, is a kind of strength test. You don't have a chance to lose, to make a wrong step - you lose, you are out. This is a slightly different and new experience for me, but definitely helps for my further development.”
The National team
Vlad and his Belarus competed in the last EuroVolleyM, when they finished on the 17th place after qualifying from Pool G in the Qualifiers round, where they finished with four wins and two losses. As there is still a room for improvement, Davyskiba is ready to work hard towards achieving the goal.
Vlad Davyskiba“Speaking about the national team, I would like to take a prize at the European Championship. That’s the first goal, and then think about something more, dreaming even higher.”
The Family
Anna and Vlad are parents of a wonderful child, and while supporting each other in different moments, Vlad points out that they try not to talk that much about Volleyball.
“I think there is a big difference between men’s and women’s Volleyball, but sometimes I tell her if I see something wrong,” Vlad shares with a smile.
In general, the outside spiker of Vero Volley dreams that his loved ones are happy and secure.
Being The Next Big Thing in Volleyball can, for sure, make his dearest and nearest people happy, can’t it?
