Teams from Tatarstan and Novosibirsk shine at Russian Snow Volleyball Cup

Novosibirsk, Russia, March 29, 2021. As many as 26 teams from across the Russian Federation joined the 2021 edition of the Russian Snow Volleyball Cup, which finished on Sunday, March 28, in Novosibirsk. With ‘milder’ temperatures than during the long Russian winter, the conditions were somehow ideal for organisers the Coastal Volleyball League to deliver such an event in late March.

The Coastal Volleyball League crew has a wealth of experience in mass participation Volleyball tournaments and events, and they joined forces with the Russian Volleyball Federation, the Ministry of Sports of the Novosibirsk Region and the Lokomotiv Volleyball club to deliver the first domestic event of the 2021 Snow Volleyball season.



Russian teams have been a force to reckon with since the early years of international Snow Volleyball competition and the players representing Dinamo Tatarstan eventually topped the final standings of the men’s tournament. The quartet consisting of Ivanov, Kayumov, Markov and Shabalin capitalised on their experience from European and World Tour events and they edged Team Peppers, from the Siberian city of Kemerovo, in the gold medal match. Team Komus from Moscow ended the competition in third place.



The Titans Volleyball Team from Novosibirsk triumphed on home snow in the women’s competition with Alpatova, Reva, Chernysheva and Chupina edging HSE from Moscow in the final. Team Peppers from Kemerovo secured the bronze medal to go with the silver claimed by their colleagues in the men’s event.

The Russian Snow Volleyball season is due to continue later this week with a second domestic event due to run from March 31 to April 1 in the Siberian city of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Region.
