City of Coslada displays excitement ahead of European qualifier

Coslada, Spain, May 22, 2014.  The first tournament in Pool C of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Women was officially presented this Wednesday in the Spanish city of Coslada.  Local authorities expressed their intention to make a great success of the event scheduled to start this Friday in Polideportivo El Plantio sports hall, while sending their best wishes to the participating teams.

The presentation took place in the City Council of the Spanish central municipality.  Coslada lives the days before the start of the competition with expectation for one of the main sports events to be held in the city this year.  “We are very proud to be the venue of this tournament,” said Coslada mayor Raul Lopez.  “Our relationship with Spanish Volleyball has been very intense throughout the years, but we were missing a main international competition like this qualification,” added the dignitary.  Along the same lines, the Sports Councilor of Coslada, Mari Luz Gomez, pointed out that “the city deserved an event as important as this one.”  “From Friday to Sunday, we will have the opportunity to see in action some of the best teams in Europe, in their quest for a ticket to the European Championship and I would like to invite all the citizens of Coslada to attend the event and support the national team”, stated Gomez.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation, Eladio Freijo, commented on the “outstanding sport facilities that Coslada offers,” and thanked the city mayoralty for contributing to the development of sporting events.  “The investment made by cities in competitions like this one is highly beneficial in all aspects, so I am glad to see that Coslada is a city of sports,” said Freijo.  The Vice President also appealed to sports fans in Coslada and in the neighboring city of Madrid to attend the event, stating that “the national team needs all our support.”

The action of Tournament 1 in Pool C will kick off on Friday, with the matches Slovenia vs. Czech Republic and Spain vs. Montenegro.
