Benfica took the initiative in the beginning of the match. However, the hosts seemed to have lost a little of concentration in defense-block in the minutes afterwards, but could find again their rhythm. Verva’s head coach Andrea Anastasi tried to change the situation and took a time out with the result being 19-14 for the hosts. Nevertheless, things did not change much and Marc-Anthony Honore of Benfica LISBOA scored the 25th point for his team.

Good performance on the service line by Igor Oskar Grobelny helped the Pollish team to start breathing their opponents’ necks. In these moments of the match, the spectators withenessed more intense Volleyball and many interesting rallies. Both sides showed good skills in defense, but the team from Lisbon could create and maintain a small point difference

The guests showed a more inspired and precise play in the third set and could bring back the intrigue in the match, tying the set score at 2-1.

In the fourth set, Benfica took again the full control and happily congratulated themselves with a a historical first win in the group stage of #CLVolleyM.

SL Benfica’s captain Hugo Gaspar contributed with 20 for his team’s victory and became MVP of the game.
