    Confident Pool D leaders Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA of Italy will target their fourth victory of the season as they host France’s TOURS VB on Wednesday at 20:30 local time at the Pala Barton.

    TOURS are one of three teams in the pool, racing to stay close behind the Italians in the table, each on a 1-2 win-loss record, but the French are currently bottom of the rankings on set ratio.

    To stand any chance of success in Perugia, TOURS will have to find a way to cope with the opponents’ serving as it features the two men with the most aces in the pool stage so far – Wilfredo Leon (12) and Oleh Plotnytskyi (11).

    "It was very important to win this game tonight, most of all because we played at home. It has been an important victory because we played with our second team. I have to say that we played well since the beginning. Now we are focusing on Sunday's match against Padova which will be hard but I feel that we will be successful.

    Perugia took the control of the game since the very first minutes of the match and did not allow any big surprises or turnovers.

    Thanks to a great performance on service, the Italians closed the first set in their favor (6 aces in the set, 4 of which scored by Plotnytskyi).

    Both Atanasijevic and Plotnytskyi were leading their teammates towards emerging victorious in the second set as well  (6 points scored each) and due to good game on the block, the Red Devils came even closer to the final win, leading 2-0 sets.

    The guests from Tours tried to react in the third set, but Perugia remained focused and closed the set and the match with the final point scored by Atanasijevic (25-21).

    Plotnytskyi  became MVP of the match with 18 points scored, 5 aces, 2 block and  55% attack and in general, the Italians outclassed their opponents mainly on service and block.

    It is hard to play against Perugia. My team fought tonight - they did what they could. In France we are not used to this level of play. With Perugia you have to play very hard and we are not used to it. We have to learn to play as they do.
