Maritza were motivated to take a revenge on RC Cannes, after a 1-3 loss in France in November. Coach Ivan Petkov’s players showed the spirit to be still on the game for the quarterfinals.

In the first set guests were more focused and played well both in attack and defence, but in the next three Bulgarian champions improved their game as RC Cannes could not find the way to score more efficiently. Team captain, Lora Kitipova distributed the balls very smart and her team mates could finish the actions successfully. In the home team the best scorers were Emiliya Dimitrova and Hristina Vuchkova with 15 points all, but the best scoring performance in this match belongs to Fatou Diouck from Cannes (17pts).

This is the first time Maritza PLOVDIV claims at least two wins in one pool stage campaign in the Champions League.

What is the most important is that we won and our players, although not all in the best possible shape right now, showed that they are the world-class athletes."

But after that Maritza came back as a new team and changed the situation. In some moments we just didn’t have enough strength. But nothing is finished and we’ll have another opportunity in the next match."
