Longuet pleased with international comeback despite finishing fourth in Montpellier
2018 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Montpellier

Montpellier, France, September 1, 2018. Laura Longuet, one of the best French Volleyball players of the last 10 years, returned to international competition this week after a break of two years. Despite losing both the semi-final and bronze medal match of the FIVB 1-Star/CEV Satellite in Montpellier, Longuet was all smiles and positive on Saturday.

Together with Ophélie Lusson, she finished her first international tournament in two years in fourth place. Her former partner, Alexandra Jupiter, with whom she finished fifth at the 2016 European Championship in Biel / Bienne, won gold in tandem with Lézana Placette.

“I really enjoyed this tournament and I think the organisers did a very good job,” Longuet commented. “I had so much fun this year on the national tour that I wanted to enjoy again what it feels to play an international competition. I am very proud that I could represent France on the international stage after a break of two years and am extremely happy to play with Ophélie Lusson,” Longuet said of her comeback.

Will she try to make it to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games? After all, the qualification process has just started. “I do not really know much about what is next. At this moment, I am not training that intensively because I have my life here in Montpellier, where I currently work as a schoolteacher. But you never know, maybe I will again have the opportunity to play some international tournaments, we will see,” she concluded.
