CEV Fair Play Campaign.

The 2013 edition of the European Volleyball Gala held in Vienna provided the perfect stage for the launch of the CEV "Fair Play Volleyball Way" campaign since its core message – a focus on the positive image of Volleyball, a sport where fair play, mutual respect and team spirit are key to success – was immediately endorsed by many of today’s and tomorrow’s Volleyball and Beach Volleyball stars.

The visuals of this campaign have since become a trademark of all competitions organised by the European Volleyball Confederation and its simple, straight, yet very important message has been included also into the official competition logo of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League.

The spirit and core message of the campaign are being embodied by players and coaches who have since been awarded for their exemplary demeanour in the interaction with their opponents and all officials. This list – which will gradually become longer and longer – may well sum up the current ambassadors of the CEV ‘Fair Play Volleyball Way’ campaign and includes the likes of Gert Vande Broek, head coach of Belgium’s women’s national team, Serbian rising star Nikola Jovovic, Russia’s Volleyball hero Alexander Volkov, Turkey’s cover girl Naz Aydemir Akyol.

Romania’s Beach Volleyball players Ioana-Alexandra Ordean and Adriana Melniciuc were recently awarded at the XXXV CEV General Assembly in Antalya following their exemplary act of fair play in the first round of the 2014-2016 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup where they refrained from gaining advantage from a physical problem affecting one of their opponents.

The CEV’s 55 member Federations and their respective clubs have all shown their commitment to use this campaign as a promotional and development tool to enhance the image and perception of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball as socially acceptable sports in today’s increasingly complicated society.

Europe’s Volleyball and Beach Volleyball players are not just wearing the logo of the campaign on their shirts, but they also turn its core message into reality, thereby showcasing the unique ability that these sports have to bring people together in a spirit of friendship, respect and fairness.

And they do this in the only way they know and that we all share: our own, specific Volleyball way!
