Turkey take on current leaders Hungary in European League second round
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Women

Ankara, Turkey, August 6, 2015. Last year’s gold medallists Turkey will be hosting Hungary on Friday and Saturday for the second round of action in the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League – Women. Hungary currently top the charts after recording two easy wins over Georgia last week whilst Turkey finished the opening round with one win and one loss in their matches with Greece in Lamia.

The matches scheduled for Friday and Saturday will both take place at Baskent Volleyball Hall in Ankara starting at 6pm local time.

Turkish Volleyball Federation’s Marketing Director Sezgin Eren, Turkey’s coach Ismail Yengil and opposite Ceren Kestirengöz all attended a press conference organised on Thursday in Ankara with only 24 hours to go to the first matchup with Hungary.

Mr Eren who made the opening speech said that the Turkish Volleyball Federation is happy to host the second leg of the European League in Ankara and invited all sports fans to come and support the home team at Baskent Volleyball Hall.

Turkey’s mentor Ismail Yengil stressed that the goal is to win both games against Hungary: “We played two close games in Greece. We could have won both but we did not manage to do so. However, we are satisfied with our performance from the first week of action because we did not have a very long preparation period before the European League as our schedule has been a busy one. Our ultimate goal is to be in the final but for this to happen first we have to reach the semis. Hungary is a good team but we are good also. And we are getting better every day. Our aim is to win both games in front of our crowd. This will be an important leg for our future prospects in this competition. We have the ability to win both games.”

Opposite Ceren Kestirengöz stated that the European League is a long marathon but they are on the eve of an important step: “We will play ten games in Pool A. The two games against Hungary will be important because they are the leaders right now. We are happy to be in Ankara. We want to make sure our fans get to watch quality Volleyball. We believe in ourselves. We want to perform well and are determined to win both matches.”
