Poland's women want to please home fans in last round of preliminary action
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Women

Warsaw, Poland, August 27, 2015. The action in the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Women resumes with the last leg of the preliminary round coming up later this weekend in Zawiercie, Poland. The hosts will take on Team Hungary in a final attempt to show their worth in this stage of the competition.

Poland is indeed eager to show good Volleyball and to score a double win – even more so in front of their home crowd – as they are coming off a double loss in Turkey, with their first match ending in a bitter 0-3. The rematch proved that head coach Wieslaw Popik’s young players are capable of superb play in spiking and at blocking as well, but unfortunately they only did so in the two first sets of the game, before giving in to the more consistent rivals. The goal for the matches against Hungary will be to keep up the good performance right until the last whistle.

The Hungarian guests are coming to Poland with quite a different memory of their last European League weekend – a double home win over Israel. Those matches also saw a 3-0 score in the first game – the difference being that the result was in Hungary’s favour. The rematch, however, had the home players work much harder for their five-set victory.

Hungary will have to keep up this hard work in the matches against Poland, if they want to move on to the semi-finals. Right now Jan De Brandt’s players are slightly behind the second-ranked Greece and Poland (which still has a slim chance to qualify) will do what they can to upset their record. Both Poland vs. Hungary matches in Zawiercie will start at 8 p.m. local time.
