Two #CLVolleyM semi-final tickets at stake in Saint Petersburg and Perugia!
2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Luxembourg, March 20, 2019. Two tickets to the semis of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men are at stake on Wednesday night. Rookies Zenit SAINT PETERSBURG of Russia will be trying to bounce back from their 1-3 loss at the hands of PGE Skra BELCHATOW last week in Poland. They can count on the return of Oreol Camejo as they attempt at qualifying for the semis in their maiden appearance in the competition. Italy’s Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA, on the other hand, will try to use the home-court advantage as they start from a 3-2 away victory at French sensation CHAUMONT VB 52 HM. Make sure you follow these eagerly anticipated fixtures on EuroVolleyTV, the digital home of European Volleyball, as we are slowly but surely heading towards #BerlinSuperFinals!

Zenit SAINT PETERSBURG (RUS) vs. PGE Skra BELCHATOW (POL)

•    A few days ago, on March 9, there were as many as 7,157 spectators at the match between Zenit SAINT PETERSBURG and the current Champions League title-holders and Russian champions, Zenit KAZAN. This is the second-highest record of attendance in the history of the Russian Superliga. The all-time record (7,450 spectators) that still stands dates back to May 2018 when these two teams locked horns in the final of the Russian league.
•    Zenit outside hitter Oreol Camejo will play against Skra in the second leg of the CL quarterfinals after he missed the first one due to illness.
•    In his latest match in the Russian Superliga (a 3-0 home win against Gazprom-Ugra SURGUT) Zenit opposite hitter, György Grozer set a record for the club by scoring 11 points in one set.
•    Zenit libero Artem Zelenkov played in this match for the first time after a long break caused by a knee injury and showed his fantastic skills again – with 77% of positive reception and absolutely no mistakes!
•    Zenit cheerleaders together with the club’s marketing department have created a programme based on popular Polish songs specifically for the match with Skra.

Sergei Cherviakov, Zenit middle blocker: “We showed our character in our latest match in the Russian Superliga against Gazprom-Ugra, and did so especially in the second set when we were losing 13-19 but we could eventually take it. This is a good sign before the match vs. PGE Skra. We could do so little in the first leg in Poland. I hope that with our great fans’ support we will play much better this time. I promise we will do our best to win. The key is in teamwork.”

Renee Teppan, opposite of PGE Skra: “We took a win but we played at home, first of all, and it is always more difficult to play abroad, especially if we have to fly like Zenit had to... I think our gym is very uncomfortable for the opponents. We did what we had to if we wanted to pass to the next round. The away game will be more difficult for us. I expect them to serve better at home; therefore, we need to keep the same level, for sure, if not more. We need to be good in reception, obviously, and not receive the balls only, but defend them. We need to play as we played at home. If we play like a team, we are an extremely difficult opponent. It will be an interesting match!”

Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA (ITA) vs. CHAUMONT VB 52 HM (FRA)

•    PERUGIA are yet to suffer a single loss in this year’s Champions League and aim at qualifying for the semis for the third straight season.
•    This is not the first time PERUGIA play a French team this season. They previously played TOURS VB in Pool E winning both at home and away.
•    If they record a home victory, no matter the score, PERUGIA will qualify for the semis. On the other hand, CHAUMONT need a 3-0 or 3-1 victory to progress. If the French team achieve a 3-2 away win, a Golden Set will determine the eventual semi-finalist.
•    PERUGIA are the best attacking team in the competition with a 55% success rate.
•    CHAUMONT VB 52 HM started the competition from the first round and this will be their 14th CL match this season.

Luciano De Cecco, player of Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA: “CHAUMONT play very well and it will be a very tough game. We are playing well, but we are in the late stages of the Champions League. We need to be very careful and we have to do our best so that we can secure another victory.”
