Tough prelims wait for Czech champion Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE
2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men

Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, October 12, 2011. The head coach of the Czech national team that recently finished tenth at the EuroVolley 2011, Jan Svoboda, will be mentoring this year also the Czech representative in the upcoming CEV Volleyball Champions League, i.e. Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE. The winners of the last Czech national league had to practice this past summer without Petr Zapletal and Radek Mach who were busy with the national team and the preparations for the European Championship. Setter Filip Habr got a separate training plan as he was still recovering from a knee surgery while Jakub Novotny was the latest addition to the roster.
“Andy Agustin Rojas joined our club in early September, he is a member of the Venezuelan national team” says Team manager Zdenek Scheichl. Head coach Svoboda has been working hard to prepare his guys for the domestic competitions as well as for the Champions League where Jihostroj will cross its ways with Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO of Italy, France’s Stade Poitevin POITIERS and Generali UNTERHACHING of Germany.
“The CEV Volleyball Champions League is always a very tough challenge for all Czech teams as there you have to test the likes of the strongest sides in Europe. We expect our fans to pack the sports hall for three interesting home matches. We won’t have to travel that far away except for Poitiers maybe, so I am happy with the draw for this season” concludes Svoboda.
Jihostroj is currently topping the stands of the Czech league after five rounds and with an immaculate record having lost only one set so far to the team from Benatky nad Jizerou.
