2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Moscow, Russia, January 17, 2012. Dinamo MOSCOW finished the prelims of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League atop of the standing in Pool E after edging Scavolini PESARO of Italy in straight sets (26-24, 25-18, 25-20) in front of some 2'000 fans at “Druzhba” sports hall.
It was the first real winter day in Russia’s capital city but the girls of Dinamo quickly warmed up the spirits of their fans. Although they started poorly trailing 3:8 and 8:16, they eventually stormed back to claim the opening set 26-24. They clipped the second set very easily (25-18) and repeated that performance also in set 3 to wrap it up in straight sets thereby guaranteeing their first place in the standings of the group. Nataliya Goncharova and Serena Ortolani were the best players tonight for Dinamo and Scavolini respectively. German star Angelina Grün says: “We lacked consistency in reception especially in the first set, so it was not an easy win tonight for us. We found our best play only in the last section of the opening set but I am proud that our group is playing better and better”.
