The results of the DOL read as follows:

Pool I in Samokov: Serbia, Russia, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Greece
Pool II in Plovdiv: Bulgaria, Belgium, Turkey, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic

Bulgaria will be trying to use the home advantage to win their first medal in this age group since the competition was established back in 1995.

Samokov and the local arena have already played host to a number of international competitions over the course of the last years whilst international Volleyball will come to town in Plovdiv, a city which has a long tradition in many sports and is known for being the oldest living town in Europe. Plovdiv is also the birthplace of Stefka Kostadinova, the President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee who still holds the world record in high jump after setting it at 209 cm back in 1987 in Rome. Kostadinova was among those featured in a video shown before the DOL and she reserved a warm welcome to all teams that are set to travel to Plovdiv for this European Championship.

The DOL set the tone for a busy year for Volleyball in Bulgaria as this country is also going to host – together with Italy – the Final Round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men through October 9-18, 2015. The Vice-President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Mr Ivan Todorov, as well as local authorities from the host cities of Plovdiv and Samokov were also in attendance and expressed their warm welcome to the delegations that will be travelling to Bulgaria later this year for a competition where the rising stars of European Volleyball will be in the spotlight. Poland won the last edition of this Championship co-hosted in 2013 by Montenegro and Serbia after edging Italy in a dramatic final match whilst Turkey settled for the bronze.
