Bulgaria and Italy impatient to welcome 2015 European Championship
2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men

Sofia, Bulgaria, June 19, 2014.  Bulgaria and Italy are ready and impatient to welcome the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men and to prepare a perfect competition on high-class level.  For both federations, the European Championship is not simply an event, but a goal to move the level of organization one step up.  Representatives of the CEV and the two organizing national federations commented on next year’s finals after the first CEV Coordination Committee meeting that took place at the Kempinski Hotel Zografski in Sofia.

CEV Vice President and Coordination Committee President Aleksandar Boricic stated that the European Volleyball Confederation is confident that Bulgaria and Italy will organize a perfect championship next year.  "It is great pleasure for me to work with both the Bulgarian and the Italian federations, not only because they have remarkable experience in organizing high-level volleyball events, but also for the fact that these two countries are very important for European volleyball.  I am pretty sure that they will have no problems presenting one classy event.  For us, in the CEV, it is important not only to have crowded venues, but to promote volleyball throughout the whole of Europe," Aleksandar Boricic stated.

As president of the then Volleyball Federation of Serbia and Montenegro, Aleksandar Boricic was involved in the first European Championship which was co-hosted by two countries – the men's edition back in 2005 together with Italy.

This fact and tons of experience in reserve are just few of the details that give Bulgaria and Italy confidence in the success of the event, Italian Volleyball Federation President Carlo Magri confirmed.  "Today was a special day for all of us as it is a unification of friends.  Here, at this hotel, we started with the idea and now we are settling cornerstones for the 2015 European Championship.  We have fantastic relationships with Serbia and Mr. Boricic, and we are great friends with Dancho Lazarov and the Bulgarian federation.  That is why I am certain that there will be no big issues when organizing this event.  I am glad that we work together and I am 100% sure that it will mark a great success at the end," Carlo Magri said.

“Italy is more experienced when it comes to organization of events, but we are eager to prove ourselves and we also have some background.  The FIVB World League Finals in 2012 were the biggest event held by us as hosts in the last several years and we are looking forward to presenting the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship.”  These were the first words of Bulgarian Volleyball Federation President Dancho Lazarov.  “Bulgaria is known worldwide for our fantastic fans and we are pretty sure that all venues will be overcrowded in 2015.  We are also ready to welcome the CEV General Assembly which is also an important event and will take place here, at this hotel," Dancho Lazarov added.

Over 3.5 million euros will be spent for the organization of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men. The event will take place at two venues in Italy and two venues in Bulgaria from October 9 through 18, 2015, with the magnificent Arena Armeec competition hall in Sofia hosting the final four of the competition.
