Preparations for 2015 men’s European Championship gather momentum
2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men

Milano, Italy, November 26, 2014. The organisers of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men to be co-hosted by Bulgaria and Italy in October 2015 came together yesterday for a second joint meeting that was held at the premises of Centro Pavesi, one of Europe’s FIVB/CEV Development Centres.

The meeting was chaired by CEV Senior Vice-President and Jury President Aleksandar Boricic and attended by the President, Vice-President and General Secretary of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Mr. Dancho Lazarov, Ivan Todorov and Stanislav Nikolov. The Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) was represented by its President Carlo Magri, CEV Vice-President Renato Arena and the chairman of FIPAV Lombardia, Mr Adriano Pucci Mossotti.

Many different items concerning the organisation of the Championship were discussed, with a focus on the state of the preparations in the two Italian venues – Milano and Torino – that will be hosting the competition. Mr Boricic was pleased with the work done so far by the organisers and everyone can now wait for a terrific Volleyball show once actions get started on October 9 next year. The Drawing of Lots to determine the composition of the preliminary pools is scheduled for February 16, 2015 and will take place at Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia.

So far thirteen teams have claimed the right to participate in the Final Round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men: Italy and Bulgaria (hosts), Russia, Serbia, France, Germany and Belgium (as per the final standing of the 2013 edition), as well as Poland, Finland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia and Belarus, i.e. the winners of the second-round qualification tournaments from last May. Another three tickets will be at stake in late May 2015 once Slovenia play Portugal, Estonia take on Sweden and Spain test the skills of the Netherlands to determine the last three teams that will get the right to compete for European glory.
