CEV confirm Walbrzych, Poland as host of men’s European League Final Four
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Men

Luxembourg, July 10, 2015. The venue and dates for the Final Four tournament of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League – Men are now confirmed. The event will be taking place on August 13-14 in the city of Walbrzych, Poland.

The Final Four tournament will get underway on Thursday, August 13, with the two semis before the bronze medal and gold medal matches follow on Friday, August 14.

The 2015 edition of the CEV Volleyball European League – Men got started last week with the first set of matches in Pool A and will continue at full speed throughout the month of July and in early August to determine the three teams that will join hosts Poland for the final act of the competition.

According to the Official Regulations, the 1st placed team of each pool and the 2nd placed team with the best score will qualify for the Final Phase, together with the organiser. If the organiser is the 1st placed team in its pool, the other 1st placed team and the two 2nd placed teams will qualify. If the organiser is the 2nd placed team in its pool, both 1st placed teams and the 2nd placed team from the other pool qualify.

The winners of the 2015 European League are automatically granted a spot in the 2016 edition of the FIVB Volleyball World League (Men) or FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix (Women), directly replacing the lowest placed European team from the 2015 edition (assuming that the qualifying team can fulfil all of the requirements set out by the FIVB).

The organisation of the Final Four tournament in Walbrzych continues Poland’s tradition in hosting major international Volleyball events. This city is already known to Volleyball fans since the local Hala Widowiskowo – Sportowa ‘Aqua Zdroj’ played host to Poland’s home matches with Montenegro and Greece in the 2014 edition of the men’s and women’s CEV Volleyball European League, respectively.

The young guys in white and red shirts started their campaign last week by recording two straight-set wins over Denmark in Slagelse and the group around coach Andrzej Kowal will now be hosting Austria this weekend in Twardogora for two matches that will determine who stays on top of the tables in Pool A.

“We are very pleased with this announcement and we thank our friends of the Polish Volleyball Federation,” CEV President André Meyer says, “for their interest and availability to host this year’s Final Four tournament. Knowing the passion and enthusiasm of the Polish fans, I am more than confident that the event will be a success and that everyone involved will get to experience once more why Poland has been dubbed the world’s Volleyball Mecca.”
