Varna to host men’s European League Finals
2016 CEV Volleyball European League - Men

Luxembourg, March 12, 2016. The Final Four of the 2016 CEV Volleyball European League – Men will be taking place in Varna, Bulgaria on July 1-2. The event will cap off the 2016 edition of the competition that will be starring the national teams of Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Luxembourg and the Former Y.R. of Macedonia. The eventual winners will follow in the footsteps of Slovenia that claimed the top honours at last year’s Final Four held in Walbrzych, Poland.

The city of Varna is well-known to Volleyball fans as last year it played host to one of the four preliminary pools of the 2015 men’s EuroVolley and back in July it also hosted the Final Four of the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League Group 2.

The local Palace of Culture and Sports was completely renovated ahead of the two events mentioned above and will provide the perfect stage for the final act of this year’s European League.

The organisation of the men’s European League Finals confirms Bulgaria’s leading role on the international Volleyball scene. Later in the summer of 2016 the cities of Varna and Plovdiv will be hosting the Final Round of the 2016 CEV U20 Volleyball European Championship – Men whilst it has also been announced that Bulgaria will be co-hosting the 2018 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship along with Italy.

The city of Varna also played host to the 2013 women’s European League Final Four where Germany topped the podium, followed by Belgium’s ‘Yellow Tigers’ and hosts Bulgaria in second and third place, respectively.
