Poland (pictured) and Russia are the reigning champions of the U19 Men and U18 Women championships, respectively, after they topped the podium at last year’s events held in Bulgaria and Turkey. However, only the organisers of the respective Final Rounds are already qualified for the final stage of the championship.

The qualification process will start on October 27-30, 2016 with a single round robin tournament on schedule for the U18 women’s competition including the four lowest ranked teams according to the latest U18 Women European Ranking List – Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo and Sweden.

There being no 1st Round for the U19 Men, the qualification process will resume in early 2017 with as many as eight second-round pools per gender set to run from January 12 to 15.

In the women’s U18 competition, the 1st placed team in each second-round Pool automatically qualifies to the Final Round. The three best 2nd ranked teams among the 2nd Round Pools (A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H) will also qualify for the Final Round and join hosts Netherlands.

In the men’s U19 competition, the 1st placed team in each second-round Pool automatically qualifies to the Final Round. The two best 2nd ranked teams among the 2nd Round Pools (A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H) will also qualify for the Final Round. There being one pool with three teams only, to calculate this, only the results against the 1st and 3rd placed teams will be used to ensure a fair and equal comparison.

The organisers of all qualification tournaments will be announced at a later stage.
