Dinamo and Lube open series of mouth-watering #CLVolleyM quarterfinals
2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men

Luxembourg, March 11, 2019. Dinamo MOSCOW host Italy’s heavyweight Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA on Tuesday night for the first of four exciting quarterfinal fixtures in the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men. It is a repeat of the 2007 bronze medal match, which Dinamo won in three sets. Cucine Lube, however, are yet to lose a match in this year’s Champions League and with their star-studded roster, the Italians will be a very hard nut to crack for Dinamo. •    Dinamo MOSCOW and Cucine Lube have only played each other once before – in the bronze medal match of the 2007 CEV Champions League, which Dinamo won in three sets.
•    Dinamo MOSCOW finished second in Pool E after losing twice to Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA, while Lube swept six matches in a row to claim the top spot in Pool B.
•    Tsvetan Sokolov and Dick Kooy are the top scorers for the two teams this far with a tally of 91 and 90 points, respectively.
•    Three players from the 2007 fixture with Lube are still wearing the shirt of Dinamo. These are Yury Berezhko, Alexey Ostapenko and Pavel Kruglov.
•    This past weekend, both Dinamo and Lube claimed their respective matches in their national leagues. Dinamo beat Yaroslavich YAROSLAVL 3-2 while Lube secured a 3-1 victory over Revivre Axopower MILANO.

2018 CL silver medal winners Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA did not suffer a single setback in the pool stage of the competition.

Konstantin Brianskii, head coach of Dinamo MOSCOW: “We are looking forward to these interesting games with one of the best teams in Europe and even in the world. I think that we will see a spectacular match. We have been preparing to play Lube for 10 days; we are in good shape and in a good mood. I know that Volleyball stars such as Tsvetan Sokolov and Osmany Juantorena will not make it an easy game for us but we will do our best to show a game of high quality on our side of the court. If we make only few mistakes, we will have good chances. Let us see. I wish everyone spectacular and interesting quarterfinals.”

Stijn D’Hulst, player of Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA: “Of course, I expect a difficult game tomorrow. We are already in the quarterfinals, so we know that the eight teams left are all equally strong. We have been preparing as good as we could because the Champions League is important for us. We will try to do everything we can to win tomorrow. The reputation of Dinamo is very good abroad and we expect a good game from their side as well. They are always playing Champions League and achieve good results. It is nice that we will have two tough games against them. I watched their game against PERUGIA and they showed good Volleyball there. Let us see how things will go tomorrow.”
