Yellow Angels set sights on #CLVolleyW semis after away victory at SCANDICCI
2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Florence, Italy, March 13, 2019. Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL have made it a step closer towards reaching the semis of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women after the Yellow Angels celebrated on Wednesday evening a 3-1 away victory at Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI (25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21) with 42 points equally distributed between Melissa Vargas and Samantha Bricio. The Italian rookies have a mountain to climb next week in Istanbul where they will have to secure a 3-0 or 3-1 win to call for a Golden Set and stay in contention for a spot in the semis.

•    Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI suffered their first setback by 1-3 in this year’s Champions League. This is their third loss in their maiden appearance in the European Cups.
•    Isabelle Haak was the best scorer of the match with 24 points for SCANDICCI. Samantha Bricio and Melissa Vargas registered 21 apiece for Fenerbahce.
•    Both teams recorded nine blocks in this match. Annie Mitchem of SCANDICCI was the best blocker with three stuffs to her name.
•    Melissa Vargas received the MVP award for the match attended by 1,400 fans at Mandela Forum in Florence.

Carlo Parisi, head coach of Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI: “It was a good game, especially if I look at the difficulties we have been experiencing lately. We seem to struggle to finish the rallies. Today my team played more freely but in the final section of the fourth set, we made too many mistakes and we pay the price for this. We played against a strong and complete team and we still have another game to play.”

Samantha Bricio, outside spiker of Fenerbahce Opet ISTANBUL: “I think that was an incredible game, and the victory is a pretty good confidence boost. Now we will play in Istanbul and this is going to be easier for us: we know the gym, we have the crowd on our side. However, SCANDICCI is a great team, and we do not have to relax.”
