CEV confirms entries for CEV Cup and Challenge Cup
CEV Volleyball Cup / CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup 2020

Luxembourg, June 25, 2019. Further to the announcement made on Tuesday in regards to the teams participating in the CEV Champions League Volley 2020 (click here), the CEV can now confirm the line-up for the 2020 edition of the CEV Volleyball Cup and CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup as well. The CEV Cup will feature 31 and 32 teams for men and women, respectively, meaning that the event will get underway with the 16th Finals. These will feature the losers of the early rounds of the CEV Champions League Volley as well. As for the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup, 40 men’s and 36 women’s teams have registered for participation in the competition, which will feature a ‘zonal’ 2nd Round for a small number of teams. The respective Drawing of Lots will be taking place on Wednesday at 14:00 and 15:30 CEST at the ‘home of European Volleyball’ in Luxembourg City, with live streaming available on EuroVolleyTV.

The full list of teams participating in the CEV Volleyball Cup 2020 Men reads as follows:

Last year’s winners TRENTINO Itas of Italy will contest the CEV Champions League Volley this coming season, meaning Russia’s Zenit SAINT PETERSBURG and Italy’s MODENA Volley are, at least on paper, the ‘hottest’ contenders for the crown, together with Russia’s Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK.

The 32 teams participating in the CEV Volleyball Cup 2020 Women are:

Italy’s Unet e-work BUSTO ARSIZIO will be trying to retain the title they claimed in 2019 – their third such achievement in the CEV Cup – with the list of potential gold medal contenders including, inter alia, Turkey’s Galatasaray HDI ISTANBUL, Russia’s Dinamo KAZAN, Germany’s SSC Palmberg SCHWERIN and the winners of the 2019 Challenge Cup, Saugella MONZA, also of Italy.
