Luka BAR vs Vasas Röplabda Kft. BUDAPEST 0-3 (12-25, 17-25, 7-25)

Throughout a busy and entertaining summer of Volleyball, fans from all over Europe have been patiently waiting for the start of the CEV Champions League, and if today was anything to go by, they will not have been disappointed. Despite not having much experience in the competition, Luka BAR (second participation) and Vasas Röplabda Kft. BUDAPEST (first participation), showed a lot of motivation and grit, which translated into an entertaining match for anyone watching.

From the very beginning of the match, the Hungarian champions showed no signs that this was too big of a task for them. Confident in their serve and agile at the net, they managed to break the balance early in the set and took a hold on the lead, finally closing it in emphatic manner. It was more of the same in the second set despite the efforts of the Montenegrin hosts, who managed a better performance with the help of their libero Melisa Cenovic. The third and final set was a one-sided affair, with the Hungarian side dominating on all fronts and ensuring they go into the second leg confident of moving through to the next round. They will need to take at least two sets in order to secure their spot in Round 3.
