2017 CEV Volleyball & CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup DOL, now completed!
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup / 2017 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup
Varna, Bulgaria, June 30, 2016. The Drawing of Lots for the 2017 edition of the CEV Volleyball Cup and CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup was organised on Thursday morning at Grand Hotel Varna in Bulgaria’s most popular seaside resort, which later this weekend will be hosting also the Final Four of the 2016 CEV Volleyball European League – Men. 118 teams were drawn on Thursday with the 2017 edition of the European Cups breaking all previous records of participation – also by means of a revamped CEV Volleyball Champions League which is now open to all national champions – with as many as 37 National Federations having registered at least one team.
A combination of seeding and drawing was used for each round; more specifically, as far as the CEV Volleyball Cup is concerned, whenever needed and possible, priority was given to teams moving down from the first, second and third round of the CEV Volleyball Champions League, Europe’s premier Volleyball competition that this year will feature as many as 36 and 30 men’s and women’s teams, respectively, an all-time record since this competition was first introduced in the 2000-2001 season.
