Danes rely on home fans’ support in quest for EuroVolley ticket
2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men

Copenhagen, Denmark, September 13, 2016. The home supporters can be the decisive factor in the hunt for tickets to the 2017 edition of the men’s EuroVolley. The Danish players also hope for all the support they can get on home soil for the matches coming up later this weekend.

A red and white wall of Danish fans cheering with all their hearts, hands, and lungs. That is the dream of the Danish national team just a few days before the qualification matches on home soil in Sønderborg.

“We will need all the support we can get from the Danish fans if we want to qualify for the European Championship in Poland next year,” says team captain Axel Jacobsen.

He is sure the fans can be the last and decisive factor, when Denmark are facing Sweden, Portugal, and Finland on the other side of the net.

“It will be three matches against three strong opponents. Without doubt, we will jump a little bit higher, and spike a little bit harder, if we have a massive support behind us,” Jacobsen adds.

The Danish fans will not be the only ones shouting and cheering in Humlehøjhallen in Sønderborg. Some Swedish fans have found their way to the southern part of Denmark, and especially the Finnish fans are arriving in large numbers to support their heroes on the court.

“We can hope that the Finnish fans will cheer a little bit for us as we are on home soil and they get carried away by the good atmosphere from the Danish fans,” said opposite Peter Trolle Bonnesen.

The qualification matches in Denmark starts Friday at 16:00 local time with Portugal taking on Finland.
