VakifBank unveil their new state-of-the-art home at VakıfBank Spor Sarayı
News from the clubs

Istanbul, Turkey, November 15, 2016. Turkey’s Volleyball giant VakifBank ISTANBUL has finally fulfilled one of its ultimate dreams with the construction of a new sports facility known as VakıfBank Spor Sarayı which was recently opened with a fabulous official ceremony attended by more than 2,000 people including the country’s Vice Prime Minister, Mr Numan Kurtulmuş, the Minister of Economy, Mr Mehmet Şimşek, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Akif Çağatay Kılıç and the Secretary General of the Turkish Presidency, Mr Fahri Kasırga.

The VakıfBank Spor Sarayı complex was completed in 15 months only with the support of one of Turkey’s biggest financial companies, VakifBank, which established the club some decades ago and has been supporting its activities for some 30 years.

The General Manager of VakifBank, Mr Halil Aydoğan, said: “Our aim is to secure sustainable success as VakifBank and our new gym will be a great asset for the achievement of this goal. One of our main strengths are the many young players we can count on and with the opportunities disclosed by this gym, we will continue to grow a lot of talented youngsters. VakıfBank Spor Sarayı will also make a significant contribution to Istanbul’s Olympic dreams.”

VakıfBank Spor Sarayı is regarded as one of the world’s largest sport facilities since it is spread over nine floors and covers an area of some 30,000 sq. m. The main Volleyball hall can accommodate up to 2,000 spectators and on top of this there are two training halls available for senior and youth teams. The players and the staff of VakifBank are provided also with a first-class fitness centre, a steam bath, rest rooms, rehabilitation rooms, a press working room, a press conference room and administrative offices.

VakıfBank Spor Sarayı includes, inter alia, a fitness centre, a Turkish bath, a 25m pool, a basketball and handball hall, a garage, rooms for Pilates, spinning and yoga, an event area and shops for public usage. The new facility is located close to all public transportation as well as to the Bosporus.
