Plenty of exciting fixtures coming up in #CEVCup / #CEVChallengeCup DoL
2018 CEV Volleyball Cup / 2018 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup

Luxembourg, June 14, 2017. The 2018 edition of the CEV Volleyball Cup and CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup got officially underway on Wednesday with the Drawing of Lots held at the CEV headquarters in Luxembourg City. As many as 126 clubs from 35 countries registered for participation in these competitions, and this figure testifies that members of Europe’s Volleyball family are very motivated to test their skills on the international stage, each one with their own goals and expectations.

On top of this, the eventual losers in the second and third rounds of the 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League will join the CEV Volleyball Cup as well, thus enjoying an additional opportunity to pursue their dreams of glory.

Russia’s powerhouse Belogorie BELGOROD and Poland’s Asseco Resovia RZESZOW are the top teams set to compete in this year’s men’s CEV Cup together with Italy’s Calzedonia VERONA and Turkey’s Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA, with 2017 semi-finalists United Volleys RHEINMAIN of Germany also a force to be reckoned with. Turkey’s Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL feature prominently in the women’s CEV Cup with the two-time club world champions expecting tough opposition from the likes of Russia’s Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG and Italy’s Pomì CASALMAGGIORE, not to forget 2017 silver medallists Unet Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO of Italy as well.

BURSA BBSK of Turkey will be trying to retain their crown in the women’s Challenge Cup whereas 2017 men’s CEV Cup gold medal winners TOURS VB of France will contest the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup this season, hoping to add another accolade to their impressive showcase with teams from Russia, Italy and Turkey also set to be in contention for the top honours. The 2018 Challenge Cup will feature, inter alia, three teams from the Small Countries Division, namely Luxembourg’s RSR WALFER and VC STRASSEN as well as Liechtenstein’s VBC Galina SCHAAN, thus taking the excitement that goes with international Volleyball to these nations as well.
