France, Slovenia, Belgium and Netherlands to co-host 2019 men’s EuroVolley!
News from the CEV

Krakow, Poland, September 1, 2017. CEV President Aleksandar Boričić made a truly historic announcement Friday in Krakow as he confirmed that four countries – France, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands – would be playing host the 2019 edition of the men’s EuroVolley. The tournament will run from September 13 to 29, 2019.

This will be the first time the flagship event for national teams will take place in four nations. The 2019 men’s European Championship will therefore become a milestone in European Volleyball history and provide a truly unique opportunity for the long-term, sustainable growth of the game across the whole of Europe.

Italy and Serbia & Montenegro were the first countries to join forces to host the men’s EuroVolley – and they did so in 2005, before Austria and Czech Republic (2011), Denmark and Poland (2013), Bulgaria and Italy (2015) did the same more recently. However, the organisation of the event across four countries is something truly unprecedented in Volleyball history. The respective National Federations and the CEV will confirm the host cities in each country later this year.

The 2019 edition of the men’s EuroVolley will feature as many as 24 teams, thus providing a record-breaking number of National Federations with an opportunity to compete at the highest level and bringing the ‘ultimate Volleyball show’ to an unprecedented number of fans across Europe. 12 teams, including those of the four host countries, will be pre-qualified for the Final Round as per the final standing of the 2017 edition currently taking place in Poland.

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić will disclose further information about the 2019 men’s EuroVolley at a press conference scheduled for Saturday, September 2 at 16:30 and due to take place at TAURON Arena in Krakow, i.e. one hour before the first semi-final of LOTTO EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 takes place at that same venue.
