Kick-off meeting lays cornerstone for historic 2019 men’s EuroVolley
2019 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men

Utrecht, the Netherlands, February 9, 2018. It has been a truly historic couple of days for Europe’s Volleyball family in the Dutch city of Utrecht as CEV President Aleksandar Boričić, a number of CEV high-ranking officials and members of the CEV staff came together with representatives of the four National Federations – France, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands – co-hosting the 2019 edition of the men’s EuroVolley.

The schedule included plenary meetings as well as a number of workshops in smaller groups to discuss about the many organisational aspects relating to the delivery of Europe’s premier Volleyball event. The 2019 men’s EuroVolley will break new ground for Volleyball as the tournament will be taking place across as many as four countries and will feature 24 teams.

Marketing and communication, logistics, promotion, TV, side events, match technology and sports presentation were among the items discussed by representatives of the four countries, their partners as well as officials and staff from the European Volleyball Confederation in an effort to define the best conditions for the delivery of the ‘ultimate Volleyball’ experience.

“This high-profile meeting coincided with the beginning of an exciting journey towards a truly historic tournament. It is the first time in Volleyball history, and not only in European Volleyball, that a major championship takes place across as many as four countries. It is also the first time that as many as 24 teams participate in the EuroVolley Final Round,” CEV President Aleksandar Boričić said. “Together with our friends and colleagues from France, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands we will be working very hard to make this event a success and an experience to remember for all involved. Our goal is to raise the value of the European Championship to the next level and while working together as one team, to make history for European Volleyball.”
