News from the CEV

Budapest, Hungary, October 31, 2018. The whole of Europe’s Volleyball family is about to convene in Budapest with the agenda including the launch of the official EuroVolley brand on November 1 followed by the Drawing of Lots for the pool stage of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League and the 2018 European Volleyball Gala on November 2. The CEV Board of Administration will have their second plenary meeting of the year on Friday morning.

Hungary’s capital will be welcoming the highest-ranking authorities in Volleyball, a number of legendary players and Volleyball ambassadors as well as international media with the iconic Várkert Bazár providing the stage for the launch of the EuroVolley brand as well as for the European Volleyball Gala.

The event on November 1 will set the tone for the eagerly anticipated 2019 EuroVolley, which will be breaking new ground in Volleyball history with as many as 24 teams participating in each gender and four countries co-hosting the men’s event and another four the women’s competition. France, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands will be playing host to the men’s EuroVolley, while Turkey, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia will deliver a historic women’s tournament.

The Drawing of Lots for the pool stage of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Champions League will be taking place at the Hilton Hotel on Friday, November 2 starting at 18:00 CET. Live streaming of the DoL will be available on the CEV’s YouTube channel as well as on the official CEV Volleyball Champions League Facebook page. The ceremony involves 20 teams per gender – 18 already seeded to the 4th Round and another two fighting for promotion to the pool phase in the early rounds that will finish mid-November. Zenit KAZAN and VakifBank ISTANBUL are the titleholders – with six and four titles to their name, respectively.

As for the European Volleyball Gala, it will take place at Várkert Bazár as well, commencing at 20:00 CET. The annual event will feature a number of show acts as well as the announcement of the recipients of the following awards:
