Artsakh claim first-ever gold in Armenian men’s national championship
News from the National Federations

Yerevan, Armenia, November 3, 2018. The final stage of the Armenian Men’s Top League Volleyball Championship ran from October 28 to November 1 with participation of five teams. As many as three teams were in contention for the top honours up until the end of the competition, with every game chiefly counting towards the final standing. Artsakh beat ASUE 3-2 in a very dramatic match to secure their first-ever gold medal from the Armenian national championship.

ASUE had to settle for the silver, while the team from NUACA (National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia) completed the podium in third place. The Polytechnic University’s team had to be content with finishing fourth as Gyumri rounded up the final standing in fifth place.

The President of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia, Hrachya Muradyan noted in his speech that the battle for the medals becomes tighter with each edition and he was especially happy to see that many young players have been taking to the court, which is very important and encouraging for the future of Volleyball in the Caucasus country.

Zaven Sahakyan (Artsakh) and Andre Simoni (NUACA) received the awards for the best players of the competition, with Andranik Mosoyan taking the Most Valuable Player prize.
