UVC Holding GRAZ secure emphatic home victory in #CEVChallengeCupM
2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men

Graz, Austria, November 7, 2018. UVC Holding GRAZ of Austria secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) over Fino KAPOSVAR of Hungary in their home matchup scheduled for the qualification phase of the 2019 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men.

Both teams started really well in the first set and this very same trend continued halfway through. After that, the home team was able to score some spectacular blocks to edge ahead before storming to a 25-18 win.

Fino KAPOSVAR were able to keep up with GRAZ until the end of the second set. At the score of 20-20, the Portuguese outside hitter of UVC Holding GRAZ, Tiago Pereira, moved the count to 23-20 and paved the way towards a 2-0 lead for the Austrian team.

Despite the 2-0 advantage, GRAZ were able to keep their concentration high and to put much pressure on the Hungarian team with their service. Fino KAPOSVAR tried everything but the home team was just too strong in all elements of the game and could close the match in their favour with another 25-18 score line to seal a 3-0 victory.

Frederick Laure, Manager of UVC Holding GRAZ: “We played our best match this season so far. The key to success was the strong service and that we were able to keep our own reception at a high level. We made it a little step closer to reaching the next round but i expect a very tough match in Kaposvar.”

Felix Koraimann, captain of UVC Holding GRAZ: “Today we played on a very high level. We remained fully focussed and were able to stick with our tactics. Now we have to focus on the next match in the Austrian Championship and only after that, we will switch our mind to the second match in Kaposvar. We opened the door but we are not in the next round yet.”

In the other Challenge Cup matches, SC CALDAS DA RAINHA of Portugal claimed a victory against the Swiss team Chênois GENEVE 3-1 (28-26, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25), and the Finns of Savo Volley KUOPIO won the Nordic duel against the Norwegian team BK TROMSØ 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-9).
