Unifying and vibrant brand unveiled ahead of EuroBeachVolley 2019
EuroBeachVolley 2019

Luxembourg/Moscow, Russia, December 5, 2018. EuroBeachVolley 2019 will be a huge party for players, fans and media alike! As such, it deserves a modern, inclusive and attractive visual identity to engage with the fans and the whole Beach Volleyball community. This is exactly what Alphabet have designed as the CEV continue a process of full re-branding, with specific colours used to promote Beach Volleyball and its very own features, starting with the sand.

EuroBeachVolley 2019 will be taking place from August 5 to 11 in one of the most iconic venues in Europe – the Luzhniki sports complex in Moscow! The Russian capital will be hosting the flagship competition in Beach Volleyball for the second time after doing so in 2005. Meanwhile, Beach Volleyball has grown tremendously in popularity across the Russian Federation and Russian teams have become a force to reckon with not only in age-group competitions, but at the senior level as well.

“I was very happy when told that Moscow will host EuroBeachVolley 2019. The support of families, friends and fans will provide us with an additional boost of positive energy and we will focus on achieving the best possible result,” said Viacheslav Krasilnikov, who won silver in 2016 in Biel / Bienne (SUI) together with former partner Konstantin Semenov. “This is great news for our athletes and fans. Moscow has been hosting a Beach Volleyball World Tour event every year and our fans are waiting for more such events to take place in Russia because they really love Beach Volleyball. Russian teams will be trying to show their best performance and please our fans while performing on home sand.”

“I am very happy that this prestigious tournament will be taking place in Moscow,” continued partner Oleg Stoyanovskiy. “Moscow is my home town and every time then I play here, I feel a lot of positive vibes. I am sure that the Russian Volleyball Federation will be organising this event at the highest level. Volleyball fans and sportsmen will be enjoying classy matches featuring the best European teams. Moscow has many places worth visiting and the guests of the championship will have the possibility to enjoy what our city has to offer.”

Stoyanovskiy and Krasilnikov recently teamed up to finish second and third at the World Tour stops in Yangzhou and Las Vegas. They will be among Russia’s main hopes of home glory after Semenov and Ilya Leshukov finished fourth earlier this summer at the EuroBeachVolley 2018 held in the Netherlands.

Russia have never won men’s gold at EuroBeachVolley with Krasilnikov/Semenov’s silver in 2016 their best result to date while Dmitry Barsouk and Igor Kolodinsky won bronze in 2008 in Hamburg. Natalya Uryadova and Alexandra Shiryaeva claimed women’s gold in 2006 in The Hague before Ekaterina Birlova and Evgenia Ukolova added silver to Russia’s tally at the 2015 edition of the European Championship in Klagenfurt, Austria.
