All 24 #EuroVolleyW teams confirmed!
CEV EuroVolley 2019 Women

Luxembourg, January 9, 2019.  After 72 qualifier matches, the full list of teams is now known for CEV EuroVolley 2019 Women, scheduled for August 23 - September 8 later this year.  With this prestigious event being the first one ever to have 24 teams, history was being made throughout the last rounds of matches by countries qualifying for the first time.  The full team list is made up of the four hosting countries, along with 8 teams coming from the standing of the 2017 edition and is now completed with qualifiers.  However, confirming their places tonight were Estonia (pictured), Romania, Slovenia and Switzerland - read more about the final 12 matches here.

Full list of qualified teams:

Pool A was dominated from start to finish by Belgium, who walked through the group with the maximum six wins and 18 points not dropping a set in any of their matches. This feat was also achieved by Greece over in Pool C who return to the EuroVolley scene for the first time since 2001.

Also qualifying with a clean sweep of wins were France and Croatia, only dropping one and two sets respectively.  The final two pool toppers were Spain in Pool F and Estonia in Pool E.  With the latter coming from a really tight pool that had Finland already qualified going into the final matches and Estonia needing to beat them to progress, if they did not then the Czech Republic would have made it.  It is the first time any women's ball sport team has reached the final phase of a continental championship in the history of Estonia.

With the second placed teams from each pool also taking a place in the drawing of lots scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 in Istanbul there was lots more to play for.  Slovenia filled this position in Pool A with two more wins than 3rd placed Israel, while Pool B finished with Switzerland in second, just ahead of Austria on ranking points.  The Swiss side qualify for the first time since they co-hosted the event with Germany back in 2013.

Ukraine (Pool C), Finland (Pool E), Romania (Pool F) all finished with four wins and two losses so grabbing second place, with Portugal completing the field as they had already qualified for EuroVolley last summer, doing so for the first time in their history.
