EuroVolley 2019 Men – Fixtures and dates of pool phase
CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men

Luxembourg, January 18, 2019. A couple of days after the Drawing of Lots held at the iconic Atomium in Brussels, the 24 teams participating at EuroVolley 2019 Men now know their programme for the pool stage of Europe’s premier Volleyball competition. The tournament will get underway on September 12 in Montpellier, France and Ljubljana, Slovenia with the first set of matches in Pool A and C, respectively. The competition in Pool B and D, which take place in Belgium and the Netherlands, will commence one day later. EuroVolley 2019 Men will be reaching its climax on September 29 at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris – where the new European champions will emerge at the end of a truly history-making event!

Co-hosts France will play their first match against Romania, who make their first EuroVolley appearance since 1995, in a ‘pool of death’ including the likes of star-studded teams such as Italy and Bulgaria. France will play Bulgaria on September 16 and conclude their duties in Pool A with the ‘big match’ against Italy. Three matches will be taking place on the opening day of the tournament: apart from France vs. Romania, Italy take on Portugal and Bulgaria play a Balkan derby with Greece on September 12 in Montpellier. Two matches a day will be taking place for the remainder of the pool phase.

The order of matches on each day is listed alphabetically - the timings to be announced later.

In Pool B, the Red Dragons of Belgium will take on Austria on the opening day of the tournament in Brussels, when the silver and bronze medal winners of the 2017 edition, Germany and Serbia, will clash for a repeat of the semi-final match they played in Krakow. Slovakia vs. Spain completes the programme of the opening day. The Red Dragons will play Germany on Sunday, September 14 and will finish their duties in the pool on September 18 in Antwerp playing Serbia in a remake of the 2017 bronze medal match.

On September 12, Slovenia will start their EuroVolley journey playing Belarus at Arena Stozice in Ljubljana. On that same day, reigning European champions Russia will take on Turkey and rookies F.Y.R. of Macedonia play their first-ever EuroVolley match against Finland. Slovenia will lock horns with Russia on the last day of pool play in Ljubljana, i.e. on September 18.

In Pool D, the Netherlands will open their home campaign on September 13 against rookies Montenegro, who are celebrating the first EuroVolley appearance since the country’s independence in 2006. World champions Poland start the tournament against Estonia before playing the Netherlands on Sunday, September 15. Three matches will take place on the first day of action, with the programme including the clash between Czech Republic and Ukraine as well, followed by two matches a day for the remainder of the pool phase.

The CEV will confirm the start times of all matches in due course.
