KFAR SABA claim Israel national cup ahead of #CEVChallengeCupW quarterfinals
News from the National Federations

Ra’anana, Israel, February 11, 2019. Israel’s Volleyball family celebrated their first ‘big night’ on Monday at Metrowest Sports Hall in Ra’anana where Hapoel KFAR SABA secured the women’s national cup title at the end of a truly dramatic match that lasted for five sets before the eventual winners edged their domestic rivals Maccabi XT HAIFA. This success adds to an already remarkable season for the Israeli team, as later this week Hapoel will contest a home match in the 2019 CEV Challenge Cup quarterfinals against Volero LE CANNET of France.

Hapoel and Maccabi are currently the major forces in Israeli women’s Volleyball and as a result, it did not come as a surprise that these two teams would clash for the first domestic trophy at stake this season. The National Cup Finals are a big thing for Israel’s Volleyball family, with the matches broadcast nationwide and large crowds coming together in Ra’anana at a place that has become the real ‘home’ of Israeli Volleyball.

With a number of raucous ‘green fans’ in attendance to root for Maccabi, Hapoel were nevertheless able to pull out a dramatic 3-2 victory in a match filled with continuous turnarounds. The organisers at the Israeli Volleyball Association could not ask for anything more than such a drama to deliver to the fans at Metrowest and to those following the event on TV.
