CEV launch #EuroBeachVolley event website, DOL on June 19 to set tone for continental showpiece in Moscow
CEV EuroBeachVolley 2019

Luxembourg, February 15, 2019. In less than six months, the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2019 will be taking place in Moscow, with the event running from August 5 to 11 at the iconic Luzhniki sports complex in the Russian metropolis. In an effort to promote the continental showpiece in the best way, the CEV have launched today an event website, which will grow and include more info as we get closer to the start of the championship that will be crowning the 2019 ‘Queens and Kings of the Beach’.

The CEV and the organisers will announce the 32 teams per gender vying for the continental crown after the registration deadline (June 17), with a Drawing of Lots due to follow on June 19 to distribute the top teams in Europe across eight pools of four. The CEV Entry Ranking on registration deadline will count towards determining the 32 teams contesting the tournament in the Russian capital, with maximum three wild cards and a country quota standing at four for all National Federations with the only exception being Russia, since the hosts can have up to six teams per gender in the competition.

The EuroBeachVolley 2019 will see an unprecedented effort made by the CEV and the Russian Volleyball Federation to raise the profile of the event, working on the overall event experience as well as exploiting the innovative brand launched back in December that aims at engaging with the fans like never before.

The continental showpiece in Beach Volleyball returns to Russia for the first time since the event took place in Sochi in 2009, while Moscow previously hosted the European Championship in 2005. The Russian Volleyball Federation have a wealth of experience in delivering first-class Beach Volleyball events, with Moscow a popular feature on the FIVB World Tour calendar for many years already.

The CEV EuroBeachvolley 2019 will provide the top players in Europe with the opportunity to play for a share of the € 100,000 prize money at stake per gender as well as for valuable ranking points counting towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The competition will get underway on August 5 with two women’s matches before a full programme of pool play follows on August 6.

The CEV and the local organisers will announce the start of the ticket sale in due course as fans can already look forward to visiting the vibrant Russian capital city and to enjoying Beach Volleyball of the finest level.

The 2018 edition of EuroBeachVolley took place across four cities in the Netherlands, with Madelein Meppelink/Sanne Keizer winning women’s gold for the host country, while Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sandlie Sørum took men’s top honours for Norway.
