Grandfather and mother shape Volleyball path for Slovenia’s Eva Mori
CEV EuroVolley 2019 Women

Ljubljana, Slovenia, April 13, 2019. As for many others, 23-year-old Eva Mori, setter of the Slovenian women’s national team, started her career when she decided to follow in her five-year-older sister Nika’s footsteps. At the beginning, she only attended Nika’s practices in OK Neptun Kanal and helped retrieve balls, but soon she fell in love with Volleyball, too.

That was no surprise. Her grandfather Franc Bukovec, a former Volleyball player, was her first coach and later she continued developing under the guidance of her mother Patricija, a member of the former Yugoslavia’s senior Volleyball national team.

Eva’s father Tadej preferred basketball. However, for him not to be the only one in love with other sports than Volleyball in the Mori’s family there is Eva’s boyfriend Alessandro, an Italian basketball player. He is at the same time the reason Eva does not forget a country, where she played for three years as a member of Foppapedretti BERGAMO. She moved to Italy when she was only seventeen, but that was not her first professional contract. At the age of 15, she signed with one of the best Slovenian teams in recent years - Calcit Volley KAMNIK.

Eva Mori awarded Best Setter of the 2017 FIVB U23 World Championship held in Ljubljana.

In 2017, Eva decided to move to France, first to BEZIERS VB and later on, to Volero LE CANNET. She is committed to continuing her successful career not only in club competitions, but in the national team as well. She received her first invitation to join the senior team in 2014, and she claimed a silver medal from the U19 European Championship in Estonia, where she received the award for the Best Setter too. Eva took another individual prize at the 2017 FIVB U23 World Championship in Ljubljana, where the Slovenians became vice-champions. She is now looking forward to representing Slovenia at the EuroVolley 2019, which will be hers and Slovenia’s second appearance among the best European teams – after their premiere in 2015.

Team Slovenia, including Eva Mori, celebrate a historic silver medal from the 2017 FIVB U23 World Championship.

Until then, Eva will finish her club season in France and relax by walking by the beach, watching Volleyball matches from other leagues and TV series, and follow fashion, one of her passions. She also, as always, will not miss an opportunity to visit her family back home in Kanal.
