Estonia’s authorities vow to support historic EuroVolley 2021 Men
News from the CEV

Tallinn, Estonia, June 23, 2019. CEV President Aleksandar Boričić had earlier this week a series of high-profile meetings in Estonia, which eventually resulted in Friday’s announcement that the Baltic country will be one of four nations to co-host the 2021 edition of CEV EuroVolley Men. Estonia and more specifically their capital city, Tallinn, will be playing host to one of the four pools that will get the continental showpiece tournament underway.

Accompanied by CEV Vice-President and President of the Estonian Volleyball Federation (EVF), Hanno Pevkur, EVF Secretary General Helen Veermäe and CEV Board of Administration member, Zdeslav Barac, the CEV President had the opportunity to meet with Estonia’s Minister of Culture, Mr Tõnis Lukas, and the Mayor of Tallinn, Mihhail Kõlvart.

The Estonian authorities confirmed their full support to the further development of Volleyball in Estonia and more specifically to the organisation of CEV EuroVolley 2021 Men. The CEV President was obviously delighted with such news and with the status enjoyed by the Estonian Volleyball family in their country.

Estonia’s men have been a force to reckon with for a while already and later this year they will make their fifth appearance at EuroVolley Men, whilst the women’s national team qualified for EuroVolley for the very first time back in January, a truly unprecedented achievement for any team sport.

Estonian fans have been travelling in large numbers abroad to follow their national team and some 1,200 have already bought tickets to visit matches of this year’s EuroVolley Men in the Netherlands. The organisation of EuroVolley 2021 in Tallinn, which received the ‘blessing’ of Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas as well during a short visit he paid to the European Golden League Finals on Friday, will obviously take Volleyball’s popularity to the next level. Volleyball fans can start looking forward to a truly historic tournament come 2021 – with the delivery of the event supported and encouraged by all relevant national authorities, including the Estonian National Olympic Committee.
