CEV host ‘Continuous Dialogue’ meeting to strengthen cooperation with clubs
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, June 27, 2019. In their effort to work more closely with all relevant stakeholders, and more specifically with clubs, the CEV hosted on Thursday the ‘Continuous Dialogue’ workshop at the iconic European Convention Centre in Luxembourg City. The meeting is further testament to the CEV leadership’s wish to exchange views and establish a consistent and regular communication flow with clubs in order to understand their interests and needs, with the ultimate goal being the creation of a strong and marketable CEV Champions League Volley product.

CEV President Aleksandar Boričić emphasised that the meeting represented the next step in the establishment of a closer cooperation with European clubs after last year’s historic Champions League Forum held in Luxembourg City as well. The representatives from a number of clubs from across the whole of Europe travelled to the Grand Duchy earlier this week, with the attendees boasting success stories in terms of their team’s achievements in the European Cups, both on and off the court.

The CEV and the clubs agreed that Europe’s Volleyball family has made enormous progress in a very short time, as reflected by the numbers taken from the last few editions of Europe’s elite competition, the CEV Champions League Volley, and by the huge success achieved through the historic Super Finals held back in May in Berlin.

Despite the many, impressive changes that the Champions League and the overall governance of Volleyball have undergone, there is still room for improvement – and the CEV leadership stressed the necessity to work on enhanced communication, shared responsibility and solidarity in order to create a good product and increase its value on the extremely competitive sports business environment.

Moreover, the CEV President shared with the attendees the concept of a Club Association recognised by the CEV, with the European Legal Commission (ELC) now in charge of defining the membership criteria in order to provide a platform that would further enhance the communication and cooperation between the CEV and European clubs.

“We are working hard in order to bring clubs closer to our institution and this meeting was a truly open dialogue and discussion, which can only be beneficial towards the further growth and development of Volleyball, but especially towards making the CEV Champions League a truly valuable product for the benefit of all involved,” CEV President Aleksandar Boričić said. “We are one family and one team – and only by working together we can increase the value of our sport.”
