ASB GlassFloor and Volleyball Bundesliga venture the revolution of indoor sports
News from the National Federations

Berlin, Germany, August 9, 2019. It is no less than a revolution in indoor sports: the Volleyball Bundesliga and ASB GlassFloor will present a world premiere at the comdirect Supercup in the TUI Arena Hannover on October 20, 2019. For the first time ever, an official game of an Olympic sport will be taking place on an interactive floor.

This symbiosis between sport and technology gives way to a new dimension that has the potential of permanently changing the world of sports all over the world. When the reigning national champions and Cup winners face inside the TUI Arena, next to the athletes, the underground they will be standing on will be the centre of attention – for it is made of glass and millions of LEDs.

Like a gigantic monitor laying on its back, “ASB LumiFlex” will present itself to the audience. The certified sports floor is more elastic, joint-friendly, grippy and long-living than most common sports floors. However, the revolutionary part is its interactivity: in collaboration with the company Kinexon, a tracking system for the floor has been developed which – similar to a computer game – graphically animates the athlete’s actions.

ASB GlassFloor’s slogan matches this perfectly: “Performance Made Visible”. Jump height, path distances or ball velocity – all statistic data can be presented to the spectator in a visually appealing way. Sportive actions such as an ace or a successful block can be presented in a livelier way when showing spectacular animations for the spectators.

Spectators in Hannover may expect a sports show the likes of which they have never seen before.”

While so far advertising on the court was only possible in one location and for only one logo, with ASB “LumiFlex” there are no limits. Next to static advertising messages, classic TV-ads, image films or trailers for the next sports highlight can also be displayed.”
