Team Montenegro continue to work hard ahead of EuroVolley debut
CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men

Podgorica, Montenegro, August 23, 2019. The second section of a three-stage preparation for EuroVolley is about to finish for the Montenegrin national team, who will complete this phase in Bijelo Polje on Saturday, where the players have been staying since August 9.  Head coach Veljko Bašić and his players work with maximum intensity, fully aware that their maiden EuroVolley appearance is an opportunity that does not come so easily.

“After completing the hardest part of our preparations in Pljevlja, mostly dedicated to physical fitness, here in Bijelo Polje we focused on certain tactical and technical tasks. Even though we work great with the fitness trainer, the quality of Volleyball training is not neglected, and the team looks really good,” says outside spiker Marko Vukašinović.

After the end of the camp in Bijelo Polje, the team will have a rest day, and then work will continue in Podgorica. The players will be staying in the Montenegrin capital until leaving for the Netherlands, where the Pool D matches will be taking place – with Montenegro taking on the hosts from Holland, plus reigning world champions Poland, as well as Czech Republic, Estonia and Ukraine.

Marko Vukašinovic had a successful 2018-2019 club season with Al Rayyan in Qatar.

“I hope that the rest of the preparations will go without any injury and in the best way, so that these 14 players will be healthy and in good shape for the start of EuroVolley,” said Vukašinovic, who had a great 2018/2019 season in Qatar, as his club  Al Rayan won the Arab Club Championship in Tunisia. He became the first player from Montenegro to win that competition and was one of the best performing members of the Qatari team on that occasion.

The Montenegrin national team will play several friendly matches in Podgorica. The first two will be on August 26 and 27 against Greece and they will take place at the Verde Complex in the Montenegrin capital.
