Members of EEVZA Volleyball family meet in Paris to discuss development plans
News from the Zonal Associations

Paris, France, September 27, 2019. The annual meeting gathering representatives of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) took place on Thursday in Paris, right on the eve of the XL CEV General Assembly in the French capital.

Mr Vladimir Patkin, EEVZA President, welcomed all members of the EEVZA family and congratulated the newly elected President of Volleyball Federation of Latvia, Mr Janis Buks, wishing him to continue his work with the same enthusiasm and energy shown since earlier this year.

Mr Patkin reported about the EEVZA activities in Volleyball and Beach Volleyball, before inviting the organisers – Georgia and Latvia – of the age-group zonal championships due to take place later this year to update everyone about their readiness for the competition. He emphasised the importance of these events since they serve as first-round qualifiers for the 2020 edition of the U17 Women and U18 Men European Championships.

A review of the 2019 EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour followed next, with EEVZA providing this season additional support to organisers in the availability of extra prize money, which resulted in an increase of interest among players and teams for participation in the zonal events. The EEVZA authorities invited all National Federations to finalise their plans for the 2020 season as quickly as possible. Darius Cerka, President of the Lithuanian Federation, said that his country is ready to deliver a ‘winter’ U18 EEVZA championship for the first time, doing so in an indoor arena.

EEVZA still plan and hope to deliver a Snow Volleyball zonal event in 2020 shortly before a European Tour stop due to take place for the third straight season in Bakuriani, Georgia.

The delegates worked on the calendar of age-group competitions for 2021-2024, confirming the respective organisers – which is a big step forward for the future planning of all national team activities.

Moreover, the EEVZA will be launching their brand new logo and official website on October 1, 2019.

Since Mr Aliaksandr Piasetski is not President of the Belarus Volleyball Federation anymore, there was a need to choose a new EEVZA Vice-President, with the President of the Ukrainian Volleyball Federation, Mykhaylo Melnyk, eventually taking the spot.
